Staff and Key Personnel
The Human Services Center employs approximately 200 people and is one of the largest employers in Lawrence County. HSC employees are represented by AFSCME (American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees) #2902 with whom the Center has an excellent relationship. In 1990, HSC and AFSCME #2902 received the Governor’s Award for Labor-Management Cooperation, and in 2009 received the Paul Stackhouse Award for Labor-Management Cooperation from the Western Pennsylvania Labor-Management Alliance.
The Human Services Center places a high priority upon recruiting and retaining a diverse and qualified professional staff. Distinguished professionals licensed and/or certified in psychology, psychiatry, social work, nursing, and counseling provide an effective and responsive work force whose goal is to improve the quality of life for those they serve. The Center places a premium on maintaining a clinical staff who have the credentials and experience to respond to the diverse needs of our clientele.
Michele Kelly-Thompson, MA, began her current role as Executive Director of Human Services Center in New Castle, PA on July 1, 2019. Michele has been employed by the Human Services Center since 1987. She previously served as the Director of Clinical Services from July, 2004 until July of 2019. Prior to her role as Director of Clinical Services, Michele served in a variety of clinical/managerial roles including Director of Outpatient Services and Director of Children’s Services. Past employment opportunities included working on inpatient psychiatric units as well as a state correctional setting. Michele completed both a Bachelor of Arts (1981) and Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology (1982) from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania.
Matthew Nord, MA, LPC was appointed as Director of Clinical Services effective July 2019. Matt has been an employee of Human Services Center since 2005. Matt has served in a variety of clinical/managerial roles including Outpatient Therapist, Director of Outpatient Services, and Director of Assessment and Outpatient Services. Matt completed his Bachelor Degree in Education from Clarion University, and his Master of Arts in Community Counseling from Slippery Rock University
