CLASSIFICATIONPsychiatric Rehabilitation Services Director
  1. Administers and supervises the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Services Program. This includes developing, planning, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating both the site-based and mobile programs.
  2. Must possess CPRP (Certified Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioner) certification within 2 years of hire and maintain certification while employed in the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Services.
  3. Supervises the daily rehabilitation activities of the site-based and mobile rehabilitation services provided. Provides individual and group supervision to staff. Schedules weekly rehabilitation team meetings to discuss consumer progress, rehabilitation strategies and monitors effectiveness and consumer satisfaction with services. Provides probationary and annual performance evaluations of all PRS staff. Participates in all aspects of hiring, retention, and terminating staff for the program. Responsible for determining in-service needs of program staff as well as ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of all PRS delivery.
  4. Establishes and monitors accurate documentation procedures for the case records to include rationale for the service, an individualized, person-specific rehabilitation assessment and plan, reviews and revision to rehabilitation plans every three months and progress notes for each encounter. Assigns individual consumers to specific psychiatric rehabilitation staff as primary worker.
  5. Establishes and documents linkages with other appropriate mental health treatment and rehabilitative programs as well as medical services and community resources. Ensures that periodic rehabilitation progress reports to the referral source and treatment providers are completed with the informed consent of each consumer per application of state/federal regulations. Maintains and provides to consumers a list of community resources which are consistent with a person’s culture, related to housing, leisure, legal entitlements, emergency needs and mental health treatment services.
  6. Initiates procedures necessary for the operation of both site-based and mobile psychiatric rehabilitation services. Monitors PRS policies and procedures as approved by the Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services, Office of Medical Assistance and the U.S. Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association (PRA) to insure program compliance with standards.
  7. Maintains oversight regarding referral process, access timelines and managed care authorization procedures.
  8. Maintains fiscal integrity of each program (site-based PRS and mobile PRS) through monitoring of fee-for-service reimbursement and productivity standards.
  9. Provides as needed site-based or mobile PRS to maintain program structure.
  10. Attends required, necessary and recommended staff development programs.
  11. Performs other duties as necessary and required by the Executive Director or his designee.


  1. Bachelor’s degree in social science such as counseling, social work, psychology, nursing or rehabilitation. Licensed preferred.
  2. At least 2 years of supervisory experience preferred.
  3. Ability to work as a leader in a multi-disciplinary team service area.
  4. Effective oral and written communication skills.
  5. Knowledge of revenue generation activity and productivity demands.
  6. Ability to triage situations to ensure the least impact on service delivery.
  7. Knowledge and experience in working with mental health professionals and workers in various roles within the organization to ensure work flow efficiency in service delivery.
  8. Knowledge of Lawrence County regulations; Pennsylvania’s Department of Human Services’ regulations and all federal regulations from the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services.
  9. Demonstrates computer literacy and competency.
  10. Act 33, 34 and FBI Clearances.
